Maker Faire and Sex Hacks wrapup

24 May 2007 | 15:45 | exhibitions, general, sw resources | No Comments

We had a fabulous time at the Maker Faire, pix will be posted to our flickr site shortly. There was lots of great stuff, esp. Swaparamarama (http://swaporamarama.org) where Melissa and I were able to get “Save the Bees” silkscreened on cool duds. Another one of our favorites was Homebrew Mobile Phones (http://hbmobile.org), we’re hoping to work with them on new shoe apps.

Special thanks to Jim Loftus for his Shapelock donations, which made our DIY shoe possible. Go to http://shapelock.com for more info.

We also had a blast at the Sex Hacks panel at the Center for Sex and Culture http://sexandculture.org. Thanks to Melissa Gira for organizing and Carol Queen for having us.

Bound, not Gagged

BoundNotGagged.com is a collective effort of sex worker advocacy groups supporting sex workers in their efforts to speak out about the Deborah Jeane Palfrey scandal in Washington DC. The blog includes personal stories, commentary and analysis from sex workers around the country and press/media resources. This project is a collaboration of the Desiree Alliance and allied organizations. More information about who they are is available at the blog.

SWOP-USA is calling for current and former sex workers to share stories about their experience in the business, especially if you’ve had encounters with politicians or other influential figures (no names please!) We’re also gathering stories about your experiences with law enforcement, the court systems, jail/prison and other personal stories from people who’ve worked in any sector of sex work.

You can email your stories anonymously to BoundNotGagged@gmail.com with the word “Post” in the subject, or you can register at the site and post for yourself by sending an email to the same address.
